We are pleased to announce the release of Firmware v4.1.0 for the JOYNED MU16 Milan USB Audio Interface.
Building on the v4.0.0 release, Firmware v4.1.0 further enhances the capabilities of the MU16 for professional Milan-AVB environments. This update focuses on making audio transport even more resilient during setup changes while expanding the flexibility of listener mapping for advanced routing scenarios.
Seamless Operation During Setup Changes
Professional Milan networks are designed to adapt to changing conditions. Whether a switch is added or removed from the network, the gPTP grandmaster changes, or the system configuration is updated, these events should not interrupt audio.
Firmware v4.1.0 improves the MU16's behavior during these transitions, eliminating audio artifacts that could previously occur while the network establishes a new timing reference.
The update also eliminates audio artifacts during sample rate changes and when changing the MU16's clock source, providing smoother operation throughout system setup and reconfiguration.
More Reliable Reconnection After Network Interruptions
Temporary network interruptions can occur when Ethernet cables are disconnected or when parts of a network lose power.
Firmware v4.1.0 improves the MU16's behavior when network connectivity is restored, allowing Milan audio connections to be re-established more reliably after a link-down/link-up event. This helps minimize downtime and ensures audio resumes as expected once the network is available again.
Expanded Listener Mapping
Firmware v4.1.0 expands the listener mapping capabilities of the MU16 by supporting one-to-many channel mappings.
A single received input channel can now be mapped to multiple output channels, providing greater flexibility for monitoring, distribution, and other advanced routing applications.
